Northern Strikers Team Preview - 2020 Premier Touch League

This year will see the Northern Strikers return with the exciting addition of a Men’s squad to bring the mens pool up to five teams.

As one of the younger, less-experienced squads in the league, the Northern Strikers Men include 14 players who are making their debut in the competition. Rising talent to keep an eye on include Boston Kake and Rhys Brown, who are under the coaching guidance of Browns brother Sage Magele. Along with Touch Blacks such as Danyon Morgan-Puterangi and Reihana Soutar-Finch, outside experience comes by way of Calem Clarke who recently played Open Men’s for South East Queensland Sharks at NTL.

The Women’s squad will see the return of Charli Foster, leading try scorer for the Northern Strikers in 2019 (7 touchdowns in total). Another young team, they will be bolstered by Tia Nootai, Sammi Stanton and Ashlynn Waaka-Iraia, the latter known for her composure under pressure and good manipulation of defence. The Northern Strikers Women will be looking to build on their 2019 performance with a strong start culminating in a strong finish.
