Collaborating with the School of Hard Knocks

Touch NZ was approached by the SOHK team (School of Hard Knocks, John Kirwan initiative) to provide some training and a warm-up Touch game as part of the team preparation for the their Rugby game at the end of their 6 week programme. The following ladies took the boys on in what turned out to be an epic Turbo Touch game due to inclement weather driving them indoors. Jess Mahar, Victoria Pone, Mahina Paul, Tiare Lang, Tori Kolose, Mererangi Paul and Jaymie Kolose showed some amazing flair and skill which transitioned over the course of the game to the boys who took them on.  Pat Green from Turbo Touch and Thomas Webster, Touch NZ National Touch Referee did an excellent job in coaching and officiating the event.

The SOHK is a programme started up by John Kirwan to assist young men by using sport to tackle the issues surrounding unemployment, crime and health. They work closely with individuals over a 6-8 week block to help them take responsibility and take positive steps forward in their lives.

Awesome to be able to assist these young men in achieving their goals over this period.

Watch our local talent take on SOHK boys in Turbo Touch as part of the build-up during their 6 week programme. Full footage will be available over the 6 episodes that will be broadcast on Sky Sport 1 from the 24th October.
