Pumanawa Awhina Awards

Pūmanawa Āwhina Awards 2023

Whilst there was a lot to celebrate for Pūmanawa Āwhina in 2022/23, unarguably the inaugural Pūmanawa Āwhina Awards night was a highlight and culmination of the mahi that took place in June 2023.

Pūmanawa Āwhina, known as Community Connect is an initiative that works with communities using physical activity and recreation for community and social development to deliver human and social outcomes. It is an approach that engages all - sporting participants and non-participants, providing regular opportunities to take part in multiple sport and other activities in priority areas in Aotearoa. The foundations of Community Connect were formed around the principles of AWHI and the Value of Sport.

After running since 2016, the Pūmanawa Āwhina 2023 Awards was a celebration of the mahi undertaken by the coordinators and P/A staff across the 8 active areas. Presentations were awarded to recipients across a range of disciplines from personal courage displayed to community motivator. Click here for full article on achievements.
