Touch New Zealand (TNZ) and Touch Football Australia (TFA) have made the decision to
postpone the Youth and Masters Trans-Tasman event scheduled for January 2022 until April
2022 due to significant uncertainty surrounding international travel.
With the recent changes in alert levels in New Zealand and no clear assurance of when
international travel between the two countries would recommence, both organisations have
deemed the best course of action is to postpone the series.
Current discussions between the two nations are that the Youth and Masters Trans-Tasman
series is to be held on the 14th to the 17th of April in New Zealand. Plans for the Open Trans-
Tasman to be held in Newcastle, Australia from 22nd to the 24th of April 2022 remain the
same.
TNZ and TFA will continue to monitor international travel restrictions and both organisations
are looking forward to recommencing international touch football as soon as practical.
TNZ CEO Joe Sprangers expressed his thanks to TFA for their supportive approach to working
through the issues of the past eight months and know the anticipation to re-engage in
international play is high.
“We are determined to find a window within the calendar in which both nations can engage
on the field once again and are hopeful this postponement increases the opportunity of that
happening.”
